I built a diy moon light for my tank with some cold cathode lights from an online store and i connected it to a 1 amp multi volt AC adapter. The lights work well until i disconnected the adapter from the lights. When i reconnected the adapter to the lights, and plugged it in, I smelt something burning. Something blew in the inverter box. Does anyone have any ideas on how to prevent this from happening again.

Can you please show me your moong light set up if you have any. Thanks alot.
Ill try to get some pictures of mine up.

Thanks

The 12" dual bulb kits use between 3-10mA per inverter, so a 300mA adapter is all you need (way more in truth.)
Also, don't hook the lights up unless the adapter is unplugged, that initial surge will fry the inverter.

dude!!! if you read the directions it says never to have the power on the inverter without having at least one bulb pluged in. i bet it was that that happened. if you make sure it has a bulb in it at all times you b fine

This is my 75, it's an old pic of when I had first set it up, I chose red in the end.

Oh, I also moved that inverter to above the tank and covered it up.
