Spring is coming soon.... I am thinking of ordering some bamboos to be planted in my yards. I live in Chicago and it does get pretty cold here in the winter. I did some research and found some bamboo that can thrive in cold weather. Does anyone have cold weather tolerant bamboos in their yards? Any experience, advice.... regarding which type I should get.... where to get them, etc. Please find below a few links that I find pretty usefull while looking for my bamboos....

I am thinking of ordering a bunch of this type... wonder if the shoots of this baboo will be edible... great for stir fry, soup... and for my fish (giant goramy)

i've got a forest of it in my backyard, it was planted about 20 years ago by my brother and has spread like crazy! Not sure what kind but it gets to be around 30 feet tall and very thick. It was encroaching on the neighbors and they cut some of it down. The property belongs to my cousin as i rent from her and she wants to cut it down, i wont let her though. I think its great looking its a bamboo forest, thought about getting a panda! Seriously though just be warned that its very invasive and spreads pretty fast once it takes hold. As far as the winters go it gets well below freezing here and usually a few days below zero, so itsvery cold tolerant.....

My neigbor has some bamboo looking plants growing in his yard. I'll ask him what it is.
