I took a trip into the amazon a few weeks ago and had the opportunity to collect Crenicichla notopthalmus.
It all started gazing into a tank. My attention was riveted on two adult Apistogrammas swimming slomly through the driftwood. All of a sudden to my surprise a juvinile pike cichlid apeared. As it raised its dorsal fin it was imediately evident that it was a Crenicichla notopthalmus, evidenced by a large single black spot bordered by crimson, on its dorsal fin.

I asked the owner where he had caught these fish and he told me about a river, a half an hours walk away.
The river was beautiful!

I found only one female notopthalmus it was in a clump of plants at the surface!
