option 1 is a cast net in a retention pond behind my cousins. small sunfish etc in there. problem being is they treat for algae on occasion. probably just copper sulfate but i dont know if its safe.

option 2 is a little creek that i dont know its origin or end. lots of crays and darters and smaller fish i could dipnet.

what do you think about these as options?

Well 1 would be safer because they probally wont carry any diseases but no.2 is bad as it will upset the natural balance..If there is a beach near you if you get a spade ect and dig at a wet part of the beach you will sometimes find sand eels ect andyou could probally feem 'em!

Whichever you choice, quarantine for 4 wks minimum, doing regular water changes.

.

I don't think we have sand eels here.

yea etheir way quarantine them and i would med them for parasites. Store bought feeders usually have fungal issues and ick and wild feeders are more likely to have parasites. ---------I sein feeders all summer and have never had a problem after meds.

Agree with the quarantine and definitely medicate for parasites, especially intenal parasites, as you don't want something like Camallanus (or similar worms) in your tank

well when the time comes, i will put them in a feeder tank and drop the jungle parasite tabs in there. So the fact that they treat that retention pond shouldnt matter too much? Would i also need to treat the crayfish?

I would treat everything, although I'd rather just not use any opf the feeders if there is any reason to beleive the source is tainted by any chemicals
