Saturday Aug 2nd, 2025 Dani and I went to collect the Rio de Las Garzas, one of the tributaries that flow south into the larger Pacora river, about 20 miles east and north of Panama City, a few miles north of the Pan American highway.

The river is very fast flowing, almost to the point of being considered rapids.

In such conditions I was hoping to find, Talamancaheros (one I had kept when ling in the US.
But no such luck, we cast out nets for a least 3 hours, and all we caught were mountain mullet ( Dajaus monticola) and a few gobies, mostly genus Awaous


The pH tested around 8, or sligtly below, and nitrates, undetectable

Sometimes you catch target fish, sometimes, they just aren't here
