Ok I've just started college. I am going to a culinary arts school in ohio. and I'm wondering where people are getting there funds for school
I got all my pell grants b/c I am a displaced auto industry worker. and I got a nice chunk for stafford loans but I still have about 2K That I have to pay out of pocket.
I applied for extra student loans through wells-fargo but I was denied b/c I have an outstanding medical bill on my credit. From a emergency room visit after I lost my insurance. and b/c of that well-fargo will not give my a loan of any amount even with a cosigner.
I also applied at my local job and family services for WIA and I was approved for the program but I was told that my schooling choice is not covered in with them b/c you do not need a degree to work in a kitchen.
The WIA place also has a transportation program which will cover up to 10 bucks a day in gas for every day you drive to school (which I need b/c I drive 135 miles a day) but I was also denied that b/c My g/f makes to much money. They did not take into consideration debt/income ratios or the fact that we have a child. They just said that I couldn't be in that program b/c my household (b/c of my g/fs income) makes to much money.
So for the people who have went to school or are curently going to school where did you get any assistance beyond what I have already tried?
