Ive been reading about these that they go good in a cichlid tank but when they get bigger they have to go to brackish to salt water when they are older but it dosnt say how old can anybody clue me in Thanks Pat

I think when they reach 6-7 inches-out of ignorance I never put salt with my and they did fine (though I wouldn't recommend it) They like to live in groups so 3 or more would be cool and I think a 90 gallon or larger would be great for them long term-never mixed my with Cichlids. My were also very I mean very active swam 24/7!! Oh and they also eat like pigs!

I've tried to keep those little cats 3 or 4 times now, starting with them at all different sizes... and I can not keep them alive. They always start off eating fine, then begin eating less, and finally die... I don't know how to make them last... and have done WAY WAY too much research on the damn little buggers...
I also always have a bit of salt in my tanks, but I did try brackish with a pair once... and it didn't help...

Oh yeah, and these were the only fish I have EVER had issues keeping. (and I have a 4-line cat, raphael, sun cat, and ID shark along with some polypterus and frontosa and a bunch of other cichlids...never had problems)
