They only grow to 3 or 4 inches and would be eaten I'm sure.
I've mixed C. asellus with severums and other peaceful fish that were bigger than the puffers and it was fine. I kept five of them in a 55 gallon tank together. They seem to like the company of their own kind.
The only "bad" side to owning these fish is that you have to trim their teeth every six months or so. Their teeth grow really fast, even when feed snails.
