Hello everyone, and thanks for checking out this thread. Well I have a juvie Blood Parrot, it's about 2.5"-3" long. He's a very dark blackish color as are most young ones (at least I think). Well, over the past couple weeks, he's getting in some lighter colored spots, it kinda looks like scarring . I basically never see him getting picked on by the other fish in the tank, so I don't think they are wounds. Is this normally how younger Parrots change from their dark color to that amazing orange/red? Thanks a ton.

there are 3 answers.
1. (probably not, but) the parrot was died, and the color is wearing off
2. it is getting the adult color
3. it will continue getting wierd colorings, because thats how it is.

number 3 is only from experience from my 7" never dyed blood parrot. based on food and mood, it will either be a colorful pure orange, vibrant glowing orange (it will sometimes have irredesent scales that reflect light, like fh perals, they are only on the bottom half, never seen it in another parrot, but...), then creamy light orange-pink, then (one of my favorates) it will have the same sunset pink-orange body, but the special peral scales he has are a nice puple/pink.
i do not have speacial lights, not even aqaurium lights, and my water quality is not at its peck (not bad though, just that i only have a 55 gallon box filter, and have cut back on the regular water changes because i have a broken wrist). i want to see how he'll look with a great sump filter, and color enhancing lights!
never seen this in another parrot. it is exActkly like another parrot, exept for its odd color range. might have something else in it though. my camera is broken, and dont have the cash for another digi.
