Color other than black for a background?

Tomorrow, I'm gonna paint the back of my tank. I'm obviously thinking black as an option, but am considering others. I think a deep, midnight purplish blue (almost black) would be cool. I also think a deep (almost black) green would go well.

if this helps influence the decision, the lifelong occupants will be 3 female cons, a female JD, and a Gold Saum.

I'm totally undecided, so I'm gonna base my decision off the results of this poll also! Will post (crappy) pics of the results.
 
black amplifies colors better than anything else for photography, or just general fish tank watching. Black is the best option. I know many people that have switched over from black after having blue and they never look back on it.

Agreed.
Black is the way to go.
 
I have a tank that has a dark blue background and a black background. I happened to like both, but sometimes I think it also depends on the fish you want to go with. I'd go black with those fish.
 
I like green, not black-ish green (the color of algae) but a nice green that is the color of plants. Fish photos always look nice in heavily planted tanks IMHO.
