Is it normal for Florida Gars colors to fade as they get bigger? My smallest Florida has much darker spots than my other two, and my biggest one is the most pale.

yeah very comen for the spotts to fade my gar has really dark spots some days and on others it hard to tell he even has them looking al silver its a combo of temperament water conditions and how well they feed at the time nothing to worry about

its the substrate,my big florida still has dark pattern

If its the substrate, why are only two of them being affected? At the moment, my little guy is showing super dark spottng and the others are the same as usual.

pictures? it depends on the genes too, some have real nice marking even in light sub

okay looking forward too some pictures

Here Hao I finally got some pics! Lol :)

Florida gars seem to go through phases where their color and pattern will get lighter then darker again as they age. My 17"+ Florida gar has a very dark pattern and my substrate is puka shell so it's kind of looks like crush coral. I think if it can get some natural sunlight then the color will look nicer.

My Gars get plenty of natural sunlight. Where you talking about my gars getting sunlight?
