I have the graph on the packaging of my coralife bulb that tells me the lightbulbs color wavelength and relative energy,
but what is the color wavelength and relative energy of GE 48" 40 watt 6500k daylight bulb ?

they probably don't provide that info, because its not sold for the a purpose that would need specific wavelengths. since its not sold to grow plants as a possible application.

i think what most people dont understand is kelvin value doesn't necessarily specify the wavelengths it puts out.

Thats exactly why I was wondering if they provided a specific wavelength.

thanks

I don't believe GE published such information, not even on their website.
To find out you'll need to measure the bulb output with a Spectrometer.
I would think it'll be similar to the coralife bulb

To bad I don't have a spectrometer

i think its just a shot in dark, it your attempting to grow plants with it. some people have success with normal bulbs. i myself did not have success with household bulbs and now just take the sure thing and go with bulbs made for it.

yah, I have plants starting to take root with the corallfie bulb, I was just hoping the GE bulb would be a good alternative/backup due to cost.
I'am going to see if I can email GE and ask them my question also.

Alright I asked them, when I get a response from them I'll post what they say in this thread.

cool, that'll be interesting to know.
if they don't get back to you you can always buy a spectrometer and find out for yourself :) but the catch is that the cost of a good one would buy you enough corallife bulb for the rest of your life.
