I've had my piranha for about 3 weeks now, when we bought them they had faint spotting and dull collorless underbelly fins, now the underbelly fin is bright red and they have darkened up nicely and the spots are very visible, the fish are growing nicely and the biggest of the 4 is about 1.5" maybe 2". i was wondering when they start to show their red on their stomachs and where it starts to show first at. also how come they are compatibly with 3 zebra danios that are 1" long and very skinny in a 55g. tank.

The should start to show their red soon. By 3" they should show. How much red they show will depend on diet. As far as why the zebra danios are still living it's probably because they're fast or you're keeping them well fed.

i had 10 zebra danio's when i first started growing my p's. The P's were all about 3", only 2 survived up to this day. I think if the P's are much bigger 5"> , they wouldnt even bother chasing after the 1" danios, but if the P's are smaller 2"< , they would be more likely to chase after the danios thinking its food. This is just from what I've tried. GL
