colored acrylic?

i am making a 150 gallon acrylic and in the process of getting the acrylic i saw that they have colored acrylic could you use this in a fish tank on the back so you dont have to paint it or anything ? i think it would look pretty neat but would any color get into the tank?

You could ... if its the same make up as the clear acrylic I don't see why not.

I did that on my tank. Except I used regular plexi glass and then glued an 1/8 inch peice of black plexi. on to the back using weldon.

+1 It's a very common thing when you are getting custom acrylic tanks built AND a lot of companies will actually charge you less if you are willing to let them use colored acrylic on your tank. ie: the bottom and back. Not sure if the colored pieces cost them less or what the deal is with that...

This a side view of the wall I used colored acrylic on.

and a top view. I made the back wall of my tank into a big overflow so I topped it with a 1" wide piece of black acrylic for the water to flow over.
