at the time, i wasn't placing the fish order at my job, now i am. anyways, when these came in, they were labeled "colored red devils". i've seen devils young before, but i don't recall seeing the bright red patch behind the gills. i decided to take a pair home. this is the female (i believe). the male is too shy to take pictures. i hope this coloring isn't fake in any shape or form. is there such a thing as a "colored" devil?

doubt it's a dye job, but it could very well have some flowerhorn in it. the term "colored red devil" or "colored midas" should refer simply to a red devil or midas that is not barred, but when it comes to some lfs and suppliers who knows. I've never seen that kind of coloration naturally on a red devil. did the other red devils that came in have the same red patch?

:)

wow nice lookin fish is that a true red devil not a rd/midas hybrid...nice lookin fish though its goin to be a monster

Would'nt the obvious answer be to call the wholesaler? You could have your answer in 2 seconds...or a bunch of gobbledygook. 50/50 shot.

i don't deal with the same wholeseller anymore. they've been a little jerkish.

yea, all of them had the same patch. however, one out of them was almost completely white with the same red patch of course. so being that they all had the same red patch.. eh.. idk what to believe. what do you think?
