colorful african preds, need advice...

Alright here goes... I am putting this out there for the african experts. I am looking for some african preds witho some color to bring some color into my tank. I have a tank that has a gang of polypterus(endlis,koliba, and weeksii). I have 2 male moba fronts and just picked up a nimbochromis venustus from Mainly Cichlids in Santa Clara CA. I got some blue need some red, yellow, orange, purple, etc.... Need your help WW folkers. Looking forward to hearing your suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Not sure exactly what you're looking for but I'd look at the different Malawi profiles:

For yellow look at Yellow Labs (Labidochromis caeruleus) and Cynotilapia sp. "Lion" (Lion's Cove)

Champsochromis species is the way to go for preds. from Malawi. My last trip over to Lake Malawi I watched a colony of 20 Champs. clean out 80+ fry in a group by higga reef in 5 minutes. They are very fierce!!!!

i advise against it for the frontosa sake. malawi preds will chase the frontsa and cause the to run into things leading to eye injury or a broken face. i've removed ps zebra, c moorii, s fryeri, and others bc of that

how bout tropheus, morrii's have red sometimes, and theres even some with yellow. Ive never had any aggression problems with them, they are very fun to watch.

trophs are a little harder too keep, very delicate. depends on his experience and fishkeeping.

esepecially the maturing males! can't get more predatory than that in a african chichlid...(I don't think?)

the only red ones i know of is Stigmatochromis modestus'red", they r reall nice fish, aquabid.com, has a guy selling a group, or you could get single ones at these two spots http://www.davesfish.com/, or http://www.dykemyster.com/, i have ordered from both, people and they r great cichlid people, also im a huge fan of tyrannochromis, not red, but real cool fish, good luck and let me know how it goes.
