Are there any really stunning brightly colored cichlids from the rio Tapajos area that can go with three spotted earth eaters, Heros Notatus Severums, chocolate cichlids, a two spot pike cichlid? I recently learned about this one cichlid called Cichlasoma dimerus that looks outstanding, but it's from uraguay. Does this fish have any close relatives from the rio Tapajos region in SA that get a good size.

Dicrossus maculatus, hero efasciatus 'tapajos', biotodoma cupido, crenicichla tapajos I and II, crenicichla marmorata, crenicichla regani, crenicichla acustirostris, symphysodon aequifasciatus tapajos, geophagus tapajos red heads, mesonauta sp.

Those are great choices, but I'm looking for something different than a pike, earth eater, and Severum species. And I can't have anything that's sensitive like Cupid cichlids or flag cichlids or discus...Is there anything similar to Cichlasoma dimerus from the rio Tapajos region? Same shape and size around 6-8", with similar stunning colors.

Something from the Cichlasoma family that gets around 6-8" that's semi aggressive colorful, and is native to the Rio Tapajos region.

have you thought about trying something in the aequidens genus? I'm not sure if there are any specifically from Tapajos but definitely in the amazon basin

If you do go with aequidens, I suggest auquidens metae for color and temperment. They are not from the tapajos, but imo would fit in nice with what you have.
I actually looked up the aequidens species, and A. sp. Jenera Herrera looked to fit the best.
