Still in the planning stages for an empty 125 Gallon I have sitting in my PC room. Below is my proposed Stocklist thus far.

1 x Male Green Terror - Set
2 x Severums - I may end up only getting 1.
5 x Clown Loaches - Set
1 x OddBall - I'm leaning towards a Peacock/Zig Zag Eel for this
Colorful Dithers - Unknown

I know most tetras don't get large enough and will end up being GT food, although some of the higher body tetras like Buenos Aires, Columbian have worked but not much color to them. Silver Dollars are popular and while I wouldn't mind a group of Red Hooks or Thin Bars - they get a bit too big. I was looking at Rainbowfish but not sure how well they'd do (or if they school well enough) and I know Tiger Barbs can be nippy until my GT gets big enough to eat em. I have used Giant Danios in the past and while they work, not much for color. Has anyone used Roseline Sharks in their CA/SA Cichlid tanks? I'm trying to stay away from anything torpedo shaped as a general rule but these seem to get about the right length where as adults they should be off the menu.

I would prefer something that schools as I just love the look of having schooling fish in the tank.

Am I overlooking something that might fit the bill?

I currently have glofish tetras in with mine. They are colorful and school somewhat. I only have three atm so sometimes they do their own thing.

Serpae tetras? They are schooling they have great colors they are fairly tough and they are pretty fast swimming. I have found they have similarities to the Colombian tetra.

I have 4 black skirt tetras in my cichlids tank and I love the way they look. I want to buy more and make school bigger

I have a school of 15 lemon tetra in with mine. They picked off three the first couple days after introduction but haven't touched them since. I have used rainbow fish in the past too

Why not look at colorful mollies or swordtails although they don't school. The do well with GTs.

Tiger barbs should be no problem and only harass each other in a large enough group,

I have Roseline Sharks in my cichlid tanks, in my opinion they make a great dither for cichlids. The Roselines also do a lot of dottom cleaning to boot. 20170718_115627.jpg 20170718_115717.jpg 20170709_223255.jpg

Odessa Barbs don't mess with any of my fish and are fast enough not to become a meal

buenos aires tetra get reasonable big and were one of my fav tetras to keep. mine were like 3" when i passed them on. they are just as colorful as roselines and sd's. also red hooks and barred silver dollars get to be dinner plate sized. BA's are imo the most overlooked tetra.

My dad has had amazing success with Roseline barbs as dithers for his male GT. In my tanks I've had massive success with Serpea tetras and Columbian blue and red tetras as dither fish in two tanks.
