so i bought and setup a 40gallon today with water and media from my 180 letting it settle for a couple days while girlfriend decides her fish. its "her" tank but i'm going to add 5 clown loaches to let them grow a bit before adding them to my tank. 16" s. weeksii might not be friendly to these tiny tiny clown loaches available at all the stores around here. anyway any fun/colorful suggestions for a 40gal thatll have a handful of growout clown loaches in it?

Not sure what else is in your 180g, but maybe get some more colorful growouts to in there.
Also, electric blue acara are great. Larger rainbowfish are also quite colorful.
