Hi all,

My aro is 6 inches in 120g tank with 6 silver dollars and other fishes. I'm thinking of getting a school of tiger barbs or some angel fish to add color to the tank. Will it work? Any suggestions?

Aros grow really fast, clown loaches are known to grow extremely slow. The aro will become big enough to eat it within a few months unless you get a huge loach to begin with.

Peacock Bass are colorful and many people have them as tankmates with their arowana. My aros are 20-22" and i have 4x 7" Peacock Bass with them. Just make sure the bass wont be able to fit in the aros mouth.

Yeah, that's the thing about clown loaches. They're slow growers and needs to be in school and besides I already have ornates and sens for the bottom. Pbass sounds a good idea and I like them but it has to be special ordered from my lfs. What is the average price there? I just want to make sure that I won't be overcharged if I special order it. Any other suggestions? Thanks for the replies.

Wow P-bass and a silver arowana, you must have a huge tank planned.

BTW I keep both angelfish and clown loaches with my arowana, not a problem.

Depends on size and species

Ocells and Monos are the most common and usually pretty cheap

Find out what species/size/price your local fish store can get.

Datnoids, Flagtail, rays, Pbass

I already have a Dat. Flagtails? Oh yeah, will consider. With rays, I don't think I have enough experience to raise them.

Will do.

I might try angelfish and see what happens, they're widely available here.

p-bass, oscars, severums, and other med-large cichlids would all make suitable tankmates for a silver in an appropriately sized tank (the 120g is just a temporary grow-out, right?).....

I have 2 oscars, 1 sev, 1 gt in another growout. Yes, the 120 is just a growout. We are fortunate enough to have our own home and a place for a big tank in the future. And I have the wife's approval to go with it. Just need to put it on paper and have it notarized just in case? (joke) I appreciate all your help and suggestions. Can't go wrong with this site. Thank you.
