I am planning on buying some colorquartz at the end of the week for my 75gallon, and was wonderng if there was anyone who has bought 2 or more colors and mixed them and if so what were the results? I am thinking of getting black and red or black and cayman green..

Black sand with a black background looks great. It is dark, but I really like it. I don't think mixing two colors will look very good.

Yeah I've been leaning towards all black now, but I thought I had read somewhere on here that someone did use the black and red together, just never saw any pics of it...

Black and red may be okay, but with mainly black. When you mix too many colors you end up with clownpuke.

I know this is a REALLY old thread and I'm hoping the OP is still here.

Did you ever mix the two colors? I just bought a bag of the chocolate brown color and it turned out pretty reddish brown in the aquarium. Now I have a 50lb bag of black that I'm planning on mixing to about 70/30 or 60/40 brown to black to try and tone it down a bit...hoping its going to turn out good:\

I've mixed different color percentages of the Colorquartz until I got what I liked. If it's too dark, just add a lighter color.

Here's my smoke with cayman green mix. I think it looks great.

Looks good! I still haven't gotten around to mixing anything yet, but I do have a bag of the cayman green that I was going to mix with either black or white. Might try it once I get my 75gallon back from my brother in a few weeks!
