Colour enhancing food

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Considering that the main color enhancing agent, astaxanthin, is almost last on the list, even less than the vitamin premix - I would say not going to be a huge boost in that area. Not to mention it utilizes soy meal, and poultry meal to boost protein levels. Far higher quality alternatives available in the UK. Good luck.

You lost me at "poultry meal". I literally have never seen a fish food that contained CHICKEN. No way I'd be feeding this to any of my fish, not when there are a ton of much better foods out there for colour enhancement (with astaxanthin and such).

Over the years plenty of fish feed manufacturers have used poultry meal as a source of protein, some still do, but not exactly what I would consider a premium ingredient to feed finfish. With marine protein costs on the rise, again, don't be surprised to see more of this in the future.

Yer I noticed it was low down the list but I assumed the bulk of the food would consist of other ingredient before the colour enhancer. How much colour enhancer can be included in a pellet? It later states astaxathin 90mg, I have no idea if that's a decent amount?

This pellet has it listed higher up in the list of ingredients but later states is only 40mg. I therefore assume this pellet contains less than half the amount of astaxanthin as the previous, even though it is mentioned earlier in the list on ingredients?

Yer I guess chicken probably isn't the best protein for a fish but this wouldn't be their stable just something to try and get their colours to really pop

Their current staple is nls thera a, always open to suggestions for a better staple pelle

TherA will give you plenty of color enhancing in the red spectrum on a fish.
