Well not really, but it felt that way when I woke up this morning.

I spent 90 minutes yesterday rinsing out 100 lbs of colourquartz in 107 degrees! I also lugged in 15 more gallons of R/O water. I won’t have an R/O system till’ August. I buy if for 20 cents a gallon in front of the grocery store in one of those glacier machines.

Right now I have a 135 gallon tank with 100 pounds of white colourquartz. I only have 30 gallons of R/O water in it right now because I’m building this tank for discus. It’s been sitting for 18 hours and I still can’t see the back.

Do I just fill the tank all the way up and put on the filters? I have Aqua Clears 110. For the media I can just put in (pillow stuffing) and take the media out as soon as its clear? Also...I have these filters running on the fronts other of tanks around the house (to get good bacteria in the sponges) Do I float those sponges in the other tanks while I use the filters to clear the sand mess?

Help!

After letting it sit for a day or so, I would drain and then refill the tank a few times before you start dumping all of that RO water in. What is wrong with your tap water? You can run a filter on it to help remove the particles, but I think draining and refilling a few times works best for me....but I am not carrying buckets of water in from a store either. I just use the tap and adjust the P/H as required.

It is Colourquartz T-grade 3M.

Las Vegas has super hard water. When you look at Lake Mead you can see the white ring around the whole lake from the calucim deposits.
