I have read the the Columbian variant is brighter and more colorful. Would like to see pictures of the color difference between the two variants. Where can I get Columbians? I have a total of 7 right now, 4 wild caught F0's and and 3 F2's. Is there a way I can tell if mine are Columbian?

0hey, festae are not from Colombia!! ;)

they are from southern Ecuador that begins from the guayas river sistem to a north river end in Peru.

(i know some pages say Colombia and Ecuador but nope, just Ecuador and northern Peru.)

thats why another name for festae is Guayas cichlid because theyre origin is the guayas river, thats southern Ecuador, In Guayaquil. Look how far from Colombia in a map/ :)

Im not pretending to change your beliefs or others, this is just what ive research in internet and around here.

I HAVE A DEBT OF THE FESTAE AND GT!! i wont forget

Nice map, thanks for the info. My question is there a such thing as a Columbian Festae or is this just a slang term for a better quality, better colored fish?

Piranha.... I think the above post indicates that there are none in Colombia. There are of course variants within Ecuador, probably from different areas but all are still Ecuadorean, as far as I know.

great map man...awesome info

The reason I ask this question is that I have seen various pictures in previous posts referring to a brighter red female Festaes and saying they were cuban variatons...not true?
