Hello! this is my first post, so please go easy on me!
I'm a "some what" newbie with fish.
Im a very exotic kind of person and ended up with a coffe table aquarium.
So as the story goes:
I had a Rectic stingray, I was told by the petstore that they eat frozen bloodworms, and then slowly switch them to live, well it was a mis communication as its obviously the opposit. So my stingray was eating at first as a Juvi, then stopped, eventually got too thin and passed. A few days before he passed I made sure all of my water parameters were spot on, as they were.
Temp: 80F
Ph: 6.6
Ammonia: 0ppm
Nitrate: 5-10ppm
New carbon, filter rinse and water change a week ago.
I noticed the Columbian shark acting different, and I thought it was because of the stingray starting to pass. Before this I had two Columbians, and one jumped
. So now I am with one (thinking of getting him another tank mate)
He was the only one in the tank for a couple of weeks, and would just lay on the bottom of the tank (sand substrate) fins clamped and not active as they should be. Well he is definitly still doing this, now that I have added another rectic stingray that is actually eating a TON, and very healthy. Well the stingray is very nice, doesnt do anything negative to him but brush him or maybe go over him a little, well now all night the shark has been doing this with little activity, and doesnt seem like he is eating. Ive seen him eat very little live bloodworms, but I also throw in frozen as thats what he was eating before like crazy, so much, he would eat it all within minutes. He seems very "scared, weak, and looks thin" He is currently about 3-4"
As I'm typing this, he just got a burst of energy, fins out, and seems as if hes "coughing" and not flashing but jolting quickly mid-water as if something is bothering him. I dont want to lose him and I am going to set up a brackish tank for him in a couple months, but maybe not now that he may not make it.
Also, the stingray is very healthy so it seems as if its the fish, not the tank.
