Columbian sharks/catfishes??

I noticed another member keeps a couple of these guys.It looked to me that they were in a FW aquarium. How long can those fish be kept in a FW setup before they stop thriving and how fast do they grow?I love them and would love to have a few,but cannot devote a tank to brackish water right now.

That's the impression I was under.However 7" is starting to get big for a fish that is suppose to max out at 14".

i think they can thrive in freshwater

mine are and they grow like nut!!!

ive had em in freshwater for 3 years

could be cause my water is hard and i have an aragonite substrate

I'm thinking I will be OK to grab a few,My tap water PH is 8.4 and pretty hard.Can't remember what I got when I tested it a while back,but I was amazed.If things get to where they need brackish later on I will be able to then.I just wanted to see how long and what size before I had to worry.
