I know these are brackish fish. I have seen them in LFS in the freshwater side of things and have also seen them in the saltwater tanks.

My question is has anyone ever successfully kept one in solely freshwater? I really like the look of these but dont want to get a fish that wont do well in my fresh tank.

They will do fine for a while. Once they hit a certain size, the missing salt will start affecting their skin and eventually kill them. They have to be in BRACKISH eventually. I'd say by the 1 year old mark. Here's one that was kept in solely freshwater. Brutal.

carterhh so i am guessing you have not had yours very long?

I have heard they dont do well in salt for long periods of time. But thought i would ask on here seeing as there is a vast amount of knowledge, and im sure some people have tired this before.
