Columbian/Silvertip

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ive got one and i will post pics later is there something you want to know about them or ya just want to see a pic of one

ask liz she is the resident columbian professional. i was debating on getting a couple and trying to convert them to full marine. you need to have it adjusted to brackish or it will wind up with skin diseases and suffer and die.

How can i contact liz? And mine are in perfect condition. Their juveniles but they are happy. I raised one from store and hes a medium build three inches I think, I raised another from store and he was a baby and very skinny now hes a smedium build 3 inches. Another I got from the store is a fat 4 incher. I believed the bigger ones were picking with the smaller one. They nipped his fin and it turned black but after a month it completely healed. I watched them and noticed they play like that and grab food and hide from others when eating it but their ok now everyone is happy

at 3-4 inches you should start adding small amounts of marine salt to there tank every w/c. they should be fully acclimated to brackish by 5-6 inches. liz is a moderator under the name red devil. i will contact her and give her a link to this thread.

sorry i didnt respond but yes they need to be aclimated to brackish water i feed mine hikari gold carnivor pellets and shrimp, thawd frozen fish, and earthworms mine is about 4 inches and stays with nuthing because of the brackish thing but hopfuly will be staying with my picaso trigger, sailfin tang and a damsel fish as well as a green spotted puffer. i promise to post pics for ya.

Still waitin for those pics:naughty:

right at the moment mine are in just a bit more then brackish.... i do believe you can go full marine with them.... i will get the info and get back..It must be done in stages... they are fine in fresh water up until about 6 inches... if you do not acclimate and put them in brackish their skin begins to turn black.. like it is dying...and eventually this condition does kill the columbians...View attachment 483486
