Hey all

I recently bought what was described to me as a teacup stingray. I was doing a little bit of research before I bought one but I am still kind of worried about the ray.

I bought him some live black worms recently but have not been able to find them in a pet store recently. I am not sure what else may suit his or her appetite.

I tried feeding him frozen mysis but I am not sure if he is eating it. He kind of just hovers over it when I target feed it.

ANy one have some experience with this fish? or any good articles describing its care?

Thanks
Larry

Oh that ray is pitifully thin. Somebody has got to have black worms that you can find, even if you have to over night them. Most rays won't snub their noses at black worms, I think that ray needs some immediate help or you are going to lose it. Breaks my heart. And yes it is a reticulated sting ray.

Thanks for the advice.. I will work on it! I will not lose this guy. How often in a day should I feed him?

thats a nice little retic, try feeding 5-6 times a day to fatten it up. they dont eat a ton at a time though they have small bellys

err, have you ever kept rays befrore? It's practically the other way around, they eat a ton and have huge stomachs...

Anyway, try out some of the things mentioned, like bloodworms, black worms, ghost shrimp, even cut up night crawlers. IME you're going to have the most chance with worms. Seperate your ray from any other tankmates it has right now, the last thing you need is competition for food.

Blackworms should fatten the little one up in no time. After that you could wean it on to other foods such as chopped crawlers, bloodworms, gut loaded ghost shrump, ect.
