I saw a Cichlid at the LFS, it's very beautiful just about 5-6 inches in length. I asked the shopkeeper what Cichlid it is and he said its' the Combat Cichlid. So I don't know what type of Cichlid this is to post in the correct Cichlid forum but I just thought I would ask so I can know about it before buying it when I can.

The Cichlid had a big head, big mouth, slender body...had dark vertical bands, red fins if I'm not mistaken..quite bluish too I guess..

Thank you for your time.:)

He probably is a barred Midas / Flowerhorn type, going by your description. Sounds cool though.

Thanks a lot for the reply, trying to check online if that's what I saw. So this Cichlid forms a hump on its head as it grows?

Ok if I am not mistaken, it looks like the first Cichlid in this picture below. I could be wrong.

Edit: Enlarged picture.

Ok I believe the body was shaped like this, but not the same colour. And there was just this strong masculine / dominating expression to the fish. If I remember it correctly, the body was grayish / dark with black / darker vertical bars. Not sure if the face had some colour to it, but the fins were red and blue.

Awesome, thanks for the replies and that's a very beautiful Cichlid. The one at the LFS has the same body type but different colours, I'm trying to check online but haven't been successful yet. Thanks again.

Edit: How big does this Cichlid grow? And is there a way to identify the sex?

Ok I have discovered that the African Cichlid at the LFS is actually a Nimbochromis livingstoni. It does not have vertical bars, instead it's more like an Oscar..

Below is an exact species and how it looks like. This Cichlid species comes with other colours too. What big head and mouth it has.
