I've heard that some of our members have successfully disassembled smaller used tanks and used the glass to combine them into larger systems. I have been considering doing this myself. Any thoughts on the process?
well, I've got a couple different 29gallon tanks sitting around. I was wondering if I used a plywood bottom if i could possibly create a 30x30x19 gallon tank. or possibly if i used the front and back panes of a 55g a 48x30x19 tank.
Im actually building one this way now out of a 180 (6x2x2) and a 150 (4x2x2.5) can't tell ya how untill I'm done because it's gonna be Awesome!!!! I'm using a steel frame though for mine so I dont have to worry about strength
I was thinking about taking apart two 125's and making a 6'X6' tank. I have one tank with the bottom broken out and another one leaks so I would just need the bottom and possibly some euro bracing for the top. The plywood idea sounds do-able
Mine is all glass with a steel frame since it's going to be a replacement for my reef tank I am not very keen on plywood and I have had certain glass tanks for 17 years and never had a leak so I trust glass and silicone
