What do you think?
I have 4 bluegill, 5 longears, and plan to add 1 or 2 warmouth and 5-6 pumkinseeds to a 240 (72x30x26).
the tank will be heavily wooded and probably a very rocky bottom to reduce spawning attempts.
the tank itself won't be set up for months yet, but the way my gills have grown I think I should get the comets (2) soon so they have time to grow and aren't just over priced feeders.

If the comments are big enuf

Do you mind if I ask why? I guess I'm not one to ask about strange fish combos, but unless you like the way they look I see no point, you could just get some different cool looking natives. Otherwise It would work if they're big enough, they are basically multi colored carp which live along-side natives all the time.

Yep,it'll work.

I do like the way the look, tank. the ones we had in a small backyard pond were active and inquisitive. I was planning on all natives , until I saw the ones available at petsmart. some very striking black and gold fish.
after some research I'm a bit confused though. about 50% of the stuff I've read says they'll lose the black as the mature, the other says they keep the coloration. the ones we had were all gold at 8 inches, but they were gold when we got them at about 1.5-2 inches.
:nilly:

They all start out black(grey) then turn gold. There are some with actual black colorationn though. They start getting gold at 2".

thats awesome. Everyone has a preference to the fish they like. I think it'll work, but bluegills and warmouth do eat minnows, so make sure they're at least 4 inches long as a wild guess... Warmouth have Bass-like mouths as their name suggests and could probably down a small to mid sized one no problem.

I kept goldfish with the sunfish in the past...no issues. I had a bud kept his sunfish with two huge fancy goldfish and a huge redtail shark in a 75gal....odd combo but it works for long time.

It'll most certainly work as long as the sizes are the same. Anything too small becomes overpriced feeders just as you mentioned. I'm not a huge goldfish fan but they'll certainly add more color!
