I'm coming to the good ole US of A this Saturday and have few things planned and would like some input on what we are doing.

Anyone been whale watching from Newport beach, we have a boat trip planned on Monday.

We fancy checking out the Griffith observatory and fancy going on a night, is it worth it and is night time the best time to visit.

We have one trip planned for eats and look to be going to Yamashiro on the Sunday, has anyone been is it quality.

We are here for 5 days before moving on up the coast and will probably mooch about the rest of the time even taking some unplanned trips about.

And Gr8, see you in San Fran in 10 days time.

I've been whale watching both on purpose and by accident from Newport Beach. It is still prime fishing season so whale watching boats may be slim to none. Whale watching is what the fishing boats do in the off season when they can make more money doing whale watching trips than fishing trips.

The 2 main landings in Newport Beach are Newport Landing and Davey's Locker. Both have websites that are easily found on google. I suggest you contact them. Even if they do not currently have any whale watching trips they might be able to steer you in the right direction.

I've been to Griffith observatory, but only while it was closed for major
remodeling a number of years back. I lived in L.A. for a while and we would go there to walk around as there is an amazing view from there.

I'm sure they have a website. Check using google.

If you are going there, you are only about an hour or so away (depending on time of day and traffic) from Universal Studios (pay) and Universal City Walk (free).

Last but not least, if you go to Universal I would recommend Todai all you can eat sushi, sashimi, King Crab etc (google it!!!) It is close to Universal. Best bang for the buck and really good food!

No, I don't own any google stock. :D

I've only been Whale Watching off the coast of Long Beach. Saw some Blue Whales. It was very cool.

Griffith Observatory is pretty interesting. I haven't been there at night, but always hear good things about the night shows. I live close to the Observatory.

I've done whale watching from newport beach, don't remember which company we used though. i thought it was worth it though.

i lOVE san fran. Such an advanced diverse culture there

Hope Jer doesn't flake on you! j/k
(he had a good reasone though:()
You owe me Sushi Jer!!!

the whale watching is sorted, my cousin lives in west hollywood so she's doing all that.
i'll see you there then Ben, i'm looking forward to it.
thanks for the info all.
