This is my first post on this site but I have been doing the cichlid thing for a few years now. About a year ago I moved across the country and so I had to give up my fish (rather than take a chance at them dying during the move).

I have just recently set up my new tank and have just acquired the new 'team':

1 Midas - The king of the tank
1 Green Terror - The roving hitman
1 Jack Dempsey - The quiet defender
3 Convicts - The pack that goes whack, small but formidable

And of course

1 Pleco - The loner

My tank is a 90 gallon acrylic and I am using a Fluval 405 canister filter.

At some point I plan to make some videos and take some pics but for kindly use your imagination.

I've kept all those species in the past and I will pretty much guarantee that you'll end up with only the midas in a few months. Not only due to raw aggression, but the fact that a midas will rapidly outgrow those other species. At 2-3" in size, the midas will probably average close to 1" of growth each month. The other species might not even show 1/2 that amount.

Not to mention a full grown male midas will seem cramped in a 48x18" footprint tank...that's without tankmates! I need to buy a house and a 6' tank for my 13-14" male midas!

Couldn't have put it better if i had tried.

Right now my green terror seems to be the most aggressive and everyone gets along and pretty much just chases the other fish. I will have to keep your comments in mind though and monitor the situation. Thanks for the inputs.

You'll see a change in demeanor once the midas hits 4" or so. By that time I had to use a full divider to keep 2 of them from killing each other. GTs are usually bullies, but really do not have the toughness to go to war with almost any CA cichlid.

Here are two pics I took with my phone so the quality is not that great. One is my new midas and the other is my aquarium. If you look in the lower right you can see my green terror.
