I used to run the fish dept at a medium sized pet store that went belly up about 10 years ago. When they closed I bought up almost all the tanks, filters, etc. One of the things I got was a Quality Marine Centre UV Sterilizer model p4, 115v. It has 4 bulbs, 3 feet long; I believe 55 watts each. I plugged it in and 3 of the bulbs lit up (it has opaque endcaps, don't worry I didn't look at the UV light!) The forth one is probably just a burned out bulb. The 3 that lit up probably need to be replaced. It has been sitting in my attic for 10 years, and they weren't new bulbs.

I'm not sure what to do with this thing. I am thinking about setting up a multi-tank system with about 600 gallons total. But I quarantine anything new, so I doubt disease will be a problem (unlike at the pet store.) I really don't think I need it, anyone agree or disagree?

I am also thinking about building a pond someday in the future. I know people use them for water clarity, but this is not an outdoor model. I suppose I will need some type of pump house to protect it. Is it worth holding onto this unit for that purpose?

If I do keep it, where can I get replacement bulbs? I googled to no avail.

And if I don't keep it, what is something like this worth? If I have no need for it, and it has value I may as well sell it.

Any input appreciated!

take the bulb to a store... most of them can use coral life UV bulbs as replacements...

That is awesome. Someone should want that for their fishroom im sure. Or say a 15000 gallon tank lol. Im imagining hooking that to my 100 gallon

on freshwater tanks it will mostly eliminate disease and algea, keeps the water clearer
