So right now I have a 75 gallon setup with 6 full grown angels. I have 2 mated pairs out of the 6. The first pair I have had for about 2 years longer than the others and the male is a black koi with the female being a zebra. When I got the next four, we got one white veil, 2 more koi(one black and one mottled brown(my favorite cause the color is fantastic and the stripes thru the tail are so perfect), and one more zebra. Was really hoping to get the 2 Kois to pair but instead got black koi and zebra pair. Now I know that i have only gone thru a few angels in the past few years but is this a common pairing? Oddly, both the zebra's are the females and the kois the males. Are zebra usually female or is it just more common?

Most angels as long as you put a male and a female together for 1 month they will pair and lay eggs. 2 year old fish is consider quite old. Normal 9 months old they will start to lay eggs. Altum or albino are much difficult to get the babies hatch out but not for other angels. You are only lucky to have 2 zebra females not for every one
