What's the opinion about having more than one tank on the same filtration system?

I'm installing a 60G and a 180G in my living room. I have a huge wet/dry trickle that should easily be able to handle them both. I'd rather have one set of maint procedures.

I use central systems on a lot of my tanks so I like them. Make sure you use a quarantine tank to protect your main system.

Yep! I already have a 30G and a 10G that I'll keep running. The 10G is the Q-tank for now since everyone is small enough to fit in it. However in the future the 30G could also be a Q-tank. Hopefully once things are set up and stable there won't be much movment IN >OR< OUT of the main tanks!

I maintain walls of tanks on the same filtration systems. I provide isolation between tanks by the use of UV on the outflow. I keep a marker board up to date with the bulb changing schedule for optimum performance of each UV unit.

So each tank has it's own UV?

Plumbing 2 large tanks together is not a good idea and really not worth the apparent time savings. Most people will use a central filtering system to supply a whole rack of 5 to 30 gallon tanks to save money on individual filters and to maintain exact water conditions.
