Just asking how long can i keep my two common goldfish baby in a 75 gallon before i need to upgrape. I know that a one foot fish will need at least a 120 gallon. They say 55 gallon by common goldfish.

i would say untill he is about 6 inches. because after that he will be putting off too much amoniea(i think i spelled it wrong)

I have four comet Goldfish in a 75 gallon right now and two of them are seven to eight inches and the other two are around two inches long. And I think they have already out grown the 75 so I'm going to buy something in the 300 plus range when I move out.

As for right now I empty out half the fish tank water and pull out the fish dirt once every week or two weeks.

your typical comet can grow quite large, they are more suited in a pond environment and can get up to 15 inches i have heard. these fish are very hardy and fairly easy to keep, i say fairly because of the ammount of waste they can produce, i have had up to 5 fancy goldfish in a 45 gal tank, the fish were between 4.5 to 5.5 inches big. thats body length to, no tail included. it was way overcrowded and all i had was an emperor 400 and a 40 gal foam filter and it wasnt hard to keep the water clean. i have since upgraded to a 65 gal tank thats 18 inches deep and would go no smaller than that for any size goldfish. they can grow amazingly fast if in the right environment. when they get to about 3 inches of body length i would be moving them to a 120 gal or more, no less than 24 inches deep. at this transfer rate you can keep quite a lot of these fish and if possible be able to pull out the ones that your not to particular about and trade them for some more smaller ones that you like. i try and always have twice the filtering needed for the tank size. and i always have a hydrofoam filter in there to, as big as you can get. for your 2 comets i would wait till they are about 6 inches like experiment397 said and then go for a 120gal thats 24 inches deep, it doesnt have to be tall, longer and deeper is better for goldfish. some of the best advise for goldfish is at THE GOLDFISH CONNECTION.COM they import all goldfish breeds from japan and china, they can get pretty pricy but your paying for what you get. they have lots of helpful tips for your goldfish setup.
i hope this was what you were looking for. goldfish rule.

lol just have alot of plants to absorbs them ammonia and good bacteria to filter. for me i don't go by the rule of this many inch of a fish per gallon. i go by this many inch of a fish vs. the entire space of the tank. i basically have like 30-40 4.5 months old betta fries in a 10 gallon. ammonia/nitrate/nitrite all read 0ppm. you just got to manage how to stay on the safe side. but gold fish will produce much much more ammonia. probably 3x-5x more ammonia than a betta would.
