I was wondering if i could keep a common pleco in a pond that has a liner?
He is 15'' Long and Thick as a baseball bat.

Thanks,
Andy

Most likely you will be fine. Some plecos are capable of producing leaks through lining, but these are few and far between, and I'm not sure if your species would be capable. Is it pretty warm in chicago then?

It should be fine, but I would pull it in during the Winter months.

It is about 27 Degrees currently in the summer it is usually 75-85 Degrees.

Thanks,
Andy

this is the key to success

Well you could do it but you would have to remove it during the winter and colder months

I had one in my pond but I had to bring mine in every winter. I did that for five years, this one being the last it just got way too big. I was putting it in a 50 gal. drum that I rigged up with a heater and canister filter. I decided to give it to a friend with a 150 gal. tank. It did a really good job in the pond though and was pretty cool watching a 19" pleco. Kinda looked like a shark swimming around from above.
