Common pleco?

I got this guy at an lfs labeled as a common, but he’s just too pretty for a common and looks completely different from my common
Maybe good genes?

Not exactly a “common plec” but similar. Common is generally pterygplichthys pardalis, this looks like p. disjunctivus, which is one of the larger “common” plecs, reaching up to 28”.
Really good looking specimen but unfortunately they plain with age.

Also would it be pool pond safe? Like not being able to chew through the pool or pop a hole with the fins

IMO and experience a RTC is liner safe providing the liner is something like butyl rubber. I believe others have used intex pools and similar but I have no experience of this.
