Just got a great 56g tank. 36x18x20
All supplies are on their way from Drs. Foster and Smith, lots of filtration, etc.

What should I stock it with?

I lean towards semi peaceful medium sized cichlids, RBP schoal, or a showcase fish.

Angel pair with some small tetras

thinking about this:

Thorichthys sp. Gold Mixteco
Geo Steindachneri
datnoid Micro
cichlasoma salvini Rio Grijalva
5 clown loaches
amatitlania Honduran Red Point

all from Tangled Up In Cichlids

looking for some inspiration

actually might go the african cichlid route

Ive got a similar tank. Mine is 30x18x24. Right now its a grow out but I dont know what to put in it after that.

i like the idea of swordtails with cichlids-they get the live food source.mixtecos,ellioti,panamensis,cutteri,HRP.maybe get a group of 5 and let them pair off

If I was going to out an African tank together, I'd copy this one: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?514336-135-gallon-Mbuna-1-year-update

As fsr as suggestions other than my original Angel one, there's always Discus. A pair of either would look great in that tank. I had the same tank for a while and once I moved my Angel pair out of it I ended up giving it away because I couldn't figure out what I wanted to put in it.
