Im curious what everyone keeps their snapper in. Mine just about ready for a new home and im thinking of building an indoor pond for him. Id like it to be somewhere between 100-150 gallons but i need ideas on what others have their turtles in. Should i have a side of the tank as full land or do a evevated land area so he can hide under it? Post some pics please.

I keep mine in a 300 gallon (96x24x30) tank. This is an old picture, I have since taken out all the slate. The gravel is round river rock off the playground, about one to one and a half inches in size. I used to try and make her an "island", but I don't anymore as she never once used it.

Yeah mine doesn't really use any land for basking. Right now he's over wintering in a rubbermaid tub until the weather warms. He's still small though 6ish" carapace. IMG_0475.JPG

wow he is happy.... i miss mine...

Mine is in a 40 breeder which is quickly becoming to small for him. About 8inch shell length and going through a growth spurt. Im waiting for nicer weather to get him an outdoor stock tank for the spring/summer.

I have an above tank basking area but for yours you would have to build it the whole length of the tank which can look cool, kind of a multi storey tank.

Check Craigslist.Someone had a 265 on there a few weeks ago.....I don't currently have a snapper but down at the creek where I catch my minnows during the warmer months there lives a pretty nice sized one.I see it every now and then when it surfaces for air.
