i know these are cichlids but theres no room for them in the cichlids section. does anybody have any tips on keeping them, max size, feeding, water temp, etc.? i saw some at an asian food market that looked cool but they were all disgusting and sick floating belly up. hoping to get one, preferably a 4" long max. any help would be appreciated, thanks

they grow about 12 to 14 inches, they eat anything, they can live in fresh or brackish waters, water temp about 76 to 86.
this is what i have seen in hawaii's tilapia.

ive raised and bred tilapia in tanks and ponds.
males get to more than a foot and females smaller.
breeder males get very colorful.
red,blue,black,and white.
they are hard to NOT breed.
even females will try to breed with each other.
grow very fast,especially males.
easy to raise fry since they will basically eat anything they can.
they are extremely hardy fish with great characters.
aggression depends on the individuals.
ive had some that basically try to bully everything and some very placid ones.

I just got some fry from a guy of the Tilapia Mozambique variety. I raised them in the 70's and wanted to sort of re-live the event now that I am a little older. Kind of hard to find in places as I looked for months.
