Along with my new Cowfish i went out and bought a "common "Wolve fish,i know that i probably shouldnt have, but i just couldnt help myself.Does anyone have experiences with these fish??Any info is really appeciated, like what type of food they eat, what size they can attain, tankmates, what size tank needed??I will try and find out as much as i can on my own but i look forward to hearing it 1st hand from you guys,Pics are greatly appreciated if you have any.Thanks!!!:headbang2

It's in the right place;)

My friend has one. Not very active, but grows with every feeding (it's only 4"-5" right now) Pretty hardy. I think they grow to about 20" My friend keeps it alone since he's heard the horror stories.

They do fine themselves and will do fine with other larger cichlids. Ive even kept them with various Piranha in a 550gal indoor pond. Wolves are my favorite fish (along with channas).

hey what size is the wolf b/c he could become lunch or killed by that 15in jar. and those large catfish. if you wanna keep tankmates with them, start socializing them with other fish when they are young and they will become accustomed to being in a social tank. certain tankmates can work, something overly aggressive can get injured or killed depending on the size of the wolf, b/c once they have set their boundary in a tank, they wont back down from a fight, and they do not lip lock like cichlids.....

Man everytime i see topics about wolffish i am very excited.

I got my wolf 10 days ago, as u can see my new thread about wolf pic update, it is very peaceful at 8" living with 2 inches jaguar and 3"4" convicts. Mine only eat feeder goldfish and does not accept anything else, grows about 18" and tankmates can be rised when the wolf fish is still young, jardini will be fine as long as it does not attack the wolf but the catfish i am afraid that it will be eaten unless it knows to hide away from the wolf. Silvers and black arowana will be fine since they swim on top and wolf lays at the bottom. Tank size 75g is recommended but i keep mine in 29gallons tank, i think it is big enough since this fish does not swim around. Lower your tank water level because first 3 days this fish will jump and hit the hood with its head, mine has lost all its teeth on the first night. Good luck with ur fish and any pictures, where did u buy it?

29 gallons is NOT big enough for a common wolf fish. I would say AT LEAST a 75 gallon.
At least? Maybe now its big enough ^.^
Width 12, fish is 8". Imma get him a bigger thank when it learns jumps to my hand and grab food!
I've been considering in getting a 48" long tank cuz i have a 50" extra space, but my father just got me a plywood stand so i gotta wait for a while so he doesn't get mad.
Do u know how big does black wolf fish grow and is it more aggressive than malas? i wanna get one from Shark Aquarium, i think its refering to xingu wolf.

agreed and for a 15in and up specimen, i would say a 120g. wolves are more active than people think, they are nocturnal. and dominator in your vid, that tank looks really bright and kinda bare, wolves like low to dim light and cover. they are not an open water fish.
