I will soon have a brand new 60g tank to start from scratch. I was wondering, if I went with a community of smallish cichlids, what would be good options? Was definitely wanting a convict or 2, either one male or two females (I don't want any breeding). Maybe a firemouth as well, although the last firemouth I had hid pretty much 24/7 and was very dull. Any others? If I don't go with the smaller cichlids, then I'll go with a GT or a JD. Cheers, Jim.

If you like convicts look into other cryptoheros kike honduran red points, nanolutes, sajica ect much nicer looking

I agree with the above posts I love my Honduran red points. Another great cichlid that isn't too aggressive and doesn't hide are Rainbow Cichlids. They do well in groups.

I have thor. maculipinnis (a firemouth variant) and they only hide when there isn't much activity in the tank, add some small stuff as dithers like swordtails and they will bring out the recluses.
