Is there a breed of puffer that can be kept in a 55 gallon community tank? If at all possible, give me some where to find some info on them.

my cousin uses his 55 community and has two dwarf/leopard puffers in it, the same has you had/have. i think walmart brand otta work

With any puffer it's a gamble. At the very least, count on the occassional nipped fin from an asellus or travancoricus puffer (these are FW BTW). The walmart puffers such as the GSP and figure 8 are very tenacious and will harm a comm setup. They're also wrongly sold in FW tanks. These species require brackish conditions with steady increases in salinity until they reach full marine conditions as adults.

ha, glad you chimed in oddball, i was a little lost on this here LOL. PD trust this guy, he knows everything!! sometimes i think he's half fish or something.

Excellent advice from Oddball as usual. Keep in mind that South American Puffers have rather fast growing teeth, but they are the most-community oriented puffer I know of.

Well my two GSP are staying in the ten. I don't want nipped finns and thanks for the advice oddball

Not again... I thought you were done killing puffers? You cannot keep 2 GSPs in a 10g. Even as juvies, they require 10-15g each & will grow into 6" Nerf ball-sized, heavy waste producing fish that requires a minimum of 30g each, by the time they reach 2". Please rethink this. Have you cycled this tank?

Please read: http://www.**************.com/forum/library/category/puffers-in-focus/

yes i did. My 55 gallon is in the Process of cycleing. And i'm probobly going to have a another 10 g. setup soon and cycled. So by the time they get to nerf size, theyll have different tanks.

But they will need 30g ea.

Sorry for the threadjack, but PP, i think you might be beating a dead horse here... i mean if you look at his sig, it says he has an 18inch Ball Python in the 55G... so unless somethings changed, i don't think they'll be getting their tank?
