Hello is there a puffer that can live in a community tank? I could get dwarf puffers but they're a bit small for my liking

The answer is practically none of them some puffers can co hab with each other but thats about it, dwarf puffers will tear your fishes fins to pieces. Some people have had luck co habing. Mbu puffers but mbus get HUGE and need a minimum of 400 gallons.

The only one that I know of is the red line puffer/tribal red line puffer. I don't know the scientific name. You don't find them often. I had two in with my discus/tetra tank. This is one of my favorite fish. I'm waiting for my local fish store to get some in.

The brazilian banded puffer do very well in a community.

I have mine in a 120 with 4 rainbows, 5 Denison barbs, 6 clown loaches, Golden Wonder killifish, yoyo loach, 2 archers, 2 albino bristlenose, mad Tom catfish

I know some people kept their mature fahaka (or was a mbu?) puffer with small community fishes such as tiger barbs and neon tetras.

i tried doing that with my fugu puffer.... no luck i came home to my panda goldfish in half with heads eyes and stuff missing floating in the tank also my other fishes fins were damaged....

Most Mbu I personally know of seem to do fine with other fish but housing an adult Mbu is also not in the realm of reality for most fish keepers, either, so that answer may not really help anyone.

I personally suspect that most smaller puffers could be OK with other species of fish as long as the tank were pretty good sized. Of course a puffer is going to nip everyone's fins in a 29 gallon tank. Maybe try those puffers in 125G, with school of Monos or something like that?

Just my thoughts.
