Hi there.
Looking for some suggestions for stocking my 110g. long tank.
It's 72" X 18" X 18"

I would like to try to get a decent "community" going with lots of less aggressive fish.

I'm thinking any fish shoud max out at under 5 inches?

I would like a few cool cichlids in there but also lots of pretty upper water dither fish. I also like Bolivian Rams, Cory Cats, Geo's, Maybe an Angel or 2, etc...........
Geo's get too big though..

I'm planing on using 3m colorquartz S grade sand.
I 'm running 2 ac110's and an emperor 400, for now
and I have a huge peice of malaysian drift wood that I will probally have to split in two to get it to fit in the tank. So there will be a ton of driftwood in this tank. I might anchor a few plants on to the driftwood but not many.

Also I have a trade in the works with a breeder that has a big list of fish but not much on the sa/ca side. It would be nice to utilize some of his fish though if possible.

He also said he has a large group of long tailed Ruby or Rosey Barbs I think?
any suggestions on possibilities with the breeders list of fish.
I would like to take advantage of this trade situation if possible?

Some of the ones that sound like they might work to me are:
Aequidens Matae or Maroni key hole, Pulcher Kribensis, long tailed rosy or ruby barbs and he has a ton of differn't angels?

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
Greg

I stocked a 6' 125 gal tank with 6 male & 12 female Apisos and some dithers once. I simply loved that tank...

The Apistos started breeding and then aggression rose. Eventually only 2 of the original 6 males survived, each 'owning' half of the 6' tank. But then their offspring grew to breeding age and the 'colony' really came of age. Eventually the two biggest/oldest males each owned half the tank and each spawned with a handful of females on their half... while their young male offspring also spawned. Although each young male only got one female each.

I also used this tank to grow out baby Blue Dempseys which worked fine. I later worked a baby Black Ghost Knife into the tank which also went very well (although the knife was removed when he got too big).

My fiance always encourages me to redidicate my 125 gal to Apistos... it was an awesome tank...

I ended up trading in some overgrown fish to the pet sore:
I picked up:
Juvi's of
3 Mascara Barbs
4 Geo's, can't remember what I got, they showed me the adults in a book. spossed to get 5 inch max and looked redish brown, from columbia and started with a "P"??
and
1 brown bristle nose pleco
1 ambino bristle nose pleco
I didn't have money to buy anything else.
So now I'm looking to build from here.
:)

hey, I'm in Howell. If you want I've got some smaller peaceful type fish I can part with.

3x bandit cories
5x geophagus "rio salito" (undescribed species)
1x keyhole

let me know I am not looking for much for any of the fish.

Here is a shot of the keyhole

I'd maybe go with a group of festivum instead of angels, but that is just personal preference

Thanks Camphilophus.
I will keep that in mind.
I'm going to wait a while to make sure what type of Geo's I actually have, there too young now to tell.

where did you get them and what are those catfish/botia things?

From what I can tell from the video on my small laptop screen ... they appear to be juvy 'Geophagus' steindachneri, 'Geophagus' crassilabris, or 'Geophagus' pellegrini ... something in that family group. They all appear the same as young though, well even as adults too. If the are captive bred, they are probably Steinies ... they are the most common, the other two are very rare in the trade. If wild caught, Crassilabris is from Panama, the other two from Colombia.

I got then @ fantastic fins in Livonia Mi.
I asked about Geophagus' steindachneri and he said that they had a simular smaller geo. He showed them to me in this book.

I'm pretty sure they were labled Geophagus' pellegrini.
They only had 4.

The others were labled Mascara barbs, I got small one's after seeing the 3.5" adult wich were really cool. and I got 2 bristle nose plecos.
