Hey guys, so I picked up this comp. today & was just curious as to whether or not it is what the lfs claims it to be; the clerk at the store said it was a "bulu point" Altolamprologus Compressiceps. I would like to buy some more, but before I do I would at the very least like to know what I really have.

Here it is.

Thanks in Advance, Justin.

It also likes hiding in shells. I don't know if this means it's a sumbu, or do all comps. do that?!

In the shell.

All comps will use shells, my muzi gold heads sleep in them. As far as an I.D. goes, I'm not really sure. I've never heard of bulu point comps, but I have noticed a lot of new location varieties on import lists this year, so I guess it could be.

What lfs did you get him from?

I have a tank of different types of comps, and to be honest it's really difficult to distinguish between the types until they are fully mature, which can take up to 5 years.

I got it at finatics aquarium in scarborough, it was in the tank with all the wild-caught specimens.

Yeah it's weird they have all these new varieties popping up. Hard to keep track of all of them.

I get most of my fish there too...the owner Mike is a real good guy. He makes sure that he buys from reputable breeder's, and makes sure that his WCs are genuine as opposed to F1s or otherwise.

I only started going there, & I actually prefer his store as opposed to most of the other fish stores in the area. lol, so does this mean it's a "bulu" point?!

Just a collection point. It could be a yellow comp, a dark red, a yellow fin. At that size hard to say. Gotta trust your supplier. They usually assign a color to a collection point though.
