comparision of external canister filter & sump tank

hey guys, got an enquiry....

may i know the advantages and disadvantages of a external canister filter and sump tank??

i have been wondering which is better???

Sump tanks is better if you have the space, unless you are going planted. Sumps allow oxygen exchange whereas cannisters dont as they are closed looped. Also sumps allow you to have more filter media as and when required. Different types of media can also be used as you have submerged portions and portions that are exposed.

You will loose some Co2 from using sump but if you increase the efficiency of the reactor and upp the Co2 BPS it should counter the effect.
